You’ll find warm weather, white sands, and more things to do than you could dream of fitting in just one vacation!

Florida in March is a great option because of the mild, dry weather. 

The average rainfall for the month is only 3 inches, and the humidity is much lower than in the summer months – 70% compared to 90%.

This makes March a great time for outdoor activities and sightseeing without the uncomfortable heat!

Average temperatures in March range from 70-80°F (21-26 °C).

At night and on cooler days, the temperatures rarely drop below 65°F (18°C).

You’ll also find that the humidity in March is significantly lower than in the summer. 

During the summer months, humidity may be unbearable for visitors not used to it!

However, you don’t have to worry about that in March.  This makes it the perfect month to visit if you prefer a cooler beach vacation.

What Part Of Florida Is The Warmest In March?

Stay in the southern part of Florida for the warmest winter weather. 

Cities like Miami, Naples, Key West, and Fort Lauderdale, and towns around Fort Myers like Siesta Key and Clearwater keep beautifully warm temperatures almost all year round.

In March, Miami reaches the high 70s and rarely drops below 65 in the evenings. 

So, you can enjoy a great day on the beach and still be comfortable exploring the famous Miami nightlife!

Florida beaches are incredibly warm in March! 

The best part about visiting in this winter month is you don’t get the deep humidity these beaches see in the summer. 

The cool breeze and sun make March the perfect time to visit Florida beaches.

In the northern part of the state, the beaches will be chillier.  But, in the south, you’ll find perfect beach weather in March. 

Is It Hot Enough To Swim In Florida In March?

Depending on where you are in Florida, water temperatures will vary between 65 and 75 degrees.

While both are swimmable, some might find anything under 70 too cold. 

But, when temperatures hit the high 70s outside, you’ll find the cool water quite refreshing!

If you want warmer waters to swim in, head to the southern parts of Florida. 

Popular options like Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or Fort Myers tend to be warmer than northern parts of the state.

Manatee season in Florida runs from December to April. The warmer the water, the more likely you will see these guys swimming around!

Some parks and lakes around the state don’t allow you to kayak or swim in these areas for manatee protection, so check local regulations before planning your trip.

Snorkeling

Speaking of wildlife – March is an ideal time to pack your snorkeling gear and explore some of the most stunning waters in the United States.

Everglades National Park

March is the Everglade’s dry season. If you love exploring National Parks and watching animals in their natural habitat, there’s no better place in Florida than the Everglades!

Universal Studios

Universal Studios might be a better destination for you if you prefer Marvel, Harry Potter, and action-packed adventures!

The high-tech simulated rides and delicious Butter Beer make Universal a great place for adults to explore the magic of Disney.

Golfing

Florida weather is perfect for year-round golfing.  In the winter months, the northern part of Florida can be a little cold for this outdoor sport. 

However, I went golfing last March in Clermont and the weather was perfect!

You’ll also find golf picking up on the southern end of the state in winter. 

There’s no shortage of golf courses in Florida, so pack your clubs and set a tee time!

 

Visit the Kennedy Space Center

The Kennedy Space Center in Florida is a must-visit for anyone interested in space and science.

Located on Merritt Island, visitors will find interactive experiences, tours, and exhibits showcasing NASA’s long history of space exploration.

This is a great indoor attraction for kids or adults during a hot day!

Strawberry Festival

One of the most popular festivals in Florida is the Strawberry Festival.  This harvest celebration in Plant City, Florida dates back to 1930.

Spring breakers flock to Florida in March and April to take advantage of sunny skies and time off work or school.

There are a few places to visit for Spring Break in Florida.  Most of these options will bring you parties, nightlife, and young crowds.

Some of these options (like Orlando) will be flocks of families and long lines at Disney and restaurants in the surrounding areas.

What To Wear And Things To Pack

It’s best to pack layers when you’re visiting Florida in the winter months.  The mornings and evenings can be chillier. 

But, when the sun is at its peak, you’ll be warm almost everywhere!

A mix of light sweaters or jackets, shorts, t-shirts, bathing suits, and coverups is the best way to ensure you’ll be prepared for every time of day in Florida!

And, while rainfall is low in March, you should also pack a rain jacket when visiting Florida. 

You never know when light afternoon showers will have you taking cover!

Proper shoes are also a must in Florida.  Walking shoes will come in handy if you’re doing Disney, State Parks, or museums.

Flip flops and sandals are perfect for your beach and pool days.

As always, you’ll want to pack plenty of sunscreen.  Even on windier, cloudy days, the sun can be strong.

Remember to protect your skin during long days enjoying the outdoors.

You can wear shorts in Florida in March!  With the weather averaging in the 70s throughout the month, you’ll stay warm in light clothing.

But, if you’re near the beach, you might find it to be a bit breezy when the sun goes down! 

I always wear a light sweater or jacket in the evenings, especially on the coast.
