When I wrote this article, the cost of the Greyhound bus was $13, and the Megabus ticket ranged between $18 and $23 depending on how far in advance you purchased it.
To get to Daytona Beach on public transportation, take Volusia County’s Votran Route 40 Southeast Connector bus.
The trip costs as little as $1.85, but you must purchase a pass or have an exact change.
Best Airlines To Travel To New Smyrna Beach And Orlando
Flights To Orlando
For domestic flights into Orlando International Airport (MCO), Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United, JetBlue, American, Spirit, Frontier, Alaska, and Sun Country are the top providers.
If you’re looking for domestic flights to Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), Allegiant Air and Sun Country Air are your only options.
International carriers flying into MCO include Emirates Airlines, Qatar, Lufthansa, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, British Airways, ANA, and Cathay Pacific.
TUI Airways and Surinam Airways are the only two international carriers with flights to SFB.
As to which are best, it depends on what you are looking for and which features are your primary concern.
Safety, comfort, free baggage, or cheapest fare?
Southwest offers free bags, which is great if you have lots of luggage.
If you don’t mind the bare minimum, Spirit and JetBlue generally offer super economical fares.

The closest airport to New Smyrna Beach is Daytona Beach International Airport, 13.3 miles north.
Delta Airlines, American Airlines, and Avelo are the only providers who touch down at this relatively small airport.
However, this airport could be a good choice, especially if you’re looking for direct flights from Washington D.C., Philadelphia PA, Dallas-Fort Worth TX, Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC, or New Haven, CT.
Driving From New Smyrna Beach To Orlando: Best Routes To Take
If you have your own vehicle, the journey between these two Florida destinations is easy.
I recommend checking a navigation app to choose the best route based on the traffic and the time of day, but I’ve included two common routes here to give you an idea.
Route 1: Fastest Route via FL-44 W and I-4 W
✅ Advantage: Can be the fastest route depending on traffic conditions. Has a toll and non-toll option.
👎 Disadvantage: May require paying a toll.
⌛️ Time and driving distance: 56.1 miles and 56 minutes on average
To start, head southwest on Washington Street toward North Dixie Freeway.
Turn left at the first cross street onto North Dixie Freeway, then right onto Canal Street. After one mile, take a slight right onto Florida 44 West.
Next, take a slight right to merge onto I-4 West. After 23 miles, keep left at the fork to continue on I-4 Express, a toll road.
Keep driving for 6.2 miles, then keep right at the fork to stay on I-4 Express, and follow signs for Lee Road.
If you prefer to avoid the toll road, don’t merge onto the expressway. Instead, stay on I-4 West until the exit mentioned below.
In 0.2 miles, merge onto I-4 West. Continue for 5.9 miles, then use the right two lanes to take exit 83 for Anderson Street.
Continue driving to your final destination.
Route 2: Alternate Route via State Route 415 South and FL-417 Toll South
✅ Advantage: May be the fastest route depending on traffic.
👎 Disadvantage: Has tolls.
⌛️ Time and driving distance: 56.6 miles and takes 1 hour and 5 minutes depending on traffic.
To start, head southwest on Washington Street toward North Dixie Freeway.
Next, take FL-44 West to State Route 415 South in Samsula-Spruce Creek.
After nine miles, use the left two lanes to turn left onto State Route 415 South. Continue on this road for 17.9 miles.
Continue as it turns into East Lake Mary Boulevard. In 5.8 miles, use the left two lanes to turn left onto North Ronald Reagan Boulevard.
In 0.3 miles, use the left two lanes to turn left and then merge onto FL-417 Toll South.
Stay on this road for 15.1 miles, then use the right two lanes to take exit 33 to merge onto FL-408 West toward Orlando.
After 7.9 miles, use the right two lanes to take exit 11A for FL-15 toward Rosalind Avenue. Continue to your final destination.

Yes–there are toll roads from New Smyrna Beach to Orlando, but you don’t have to go on a toll road to get from one place to another.

Holland Park is a wonderful spot to enjoy during your time in New Smyrna Beach or en route to Orlando.

The disc golf course is quite technical but a lot of fun. You can choose between three difficulty levels.
Most of the course is in the shade, a definite plus in the hot Florida sun. You might even see some wildlife if you’re lucky.
If disc golf isn’t your thing, consider packing a picnic and enjoying the picnic pavilion or heading down the New Smyrna Beach pedestrian trail to stretch your legs.
Distance and time from New Smyrna: This disc golf course and park is only 2.6 miles from the center of NSB, a drive of six minutes.
